The art storage facility integrates the practical needs of storing and preserving artwork with the natural beauty of its surrounding gardens, and at the same time provides some space for artist residency and exhibition. The exterior embraces a contemporary expression that remains sensitive to its context, with the building’s outline subtly mirroring the forms of the surrounding landscape and village, though constructed with industrial materials and assemblies, becoming a tectonic framework for delicate artwork. Gardens envelop the structure, offering a serene, lush atmosphere that enriches the building’s purpose. The idea is that art storage can become art gallery, with “exhibitions” always moving and rotating based on the storage organization. This way, the works are not relegated to never being seen, but instead available for public consumption. These green spaces serve as an integral part of the overall experience, providing a peaceful environment that enhances the studio spaces, storage areas, and common areas within the facility, for visitors, collectors, staff, and artist residents alike.

The gardens act as a buffer between the industrial core of the building and the natural surroundings, softening transitions. They offer artists, staff, and visitors a place to pause, reflect, transforming the building into more than a storage facility. Their inclusion and flow in plan create a tranquil setting that enhances the appreciation of the artwork, even in storage. The materials used complement the natural surroundings, allowing the building to blend into the landscape while providing a durable and secure enclosure for artwork. Inside, the facility is designed with high standards for art preservation. Flexibility is key to the design, with storage spaces that can adapt to different types of artworks, whether paintings, sculptures, or archival materials, allowing for easy retrieval and viewing of the stored collection. More than just a place to safeguard collections; it is a carefully crafted environment that breathes life into the act of preservation, establishing a connection between visitors, collectors, art, and nature.
